New Chairman For SSNZ

8th August 2025

Outgoing Shearing Sports New Zealand chairman Sir David Fagan has formally handed over the role to former North Island chairman Warren Parker.

The handover came at the Shearing Sports New Zealand annual meeting in Christchurch on Sunday and Monday.

Parker, of Raglan, was elected unopposed after the withdrawal of the only other nominations for the position and its three-year term.

Jude McNab, of Gore, was re-elected unopposed for her eighth year as secretary.

The new chairman said he looks forward to getting around as many of the competitions as possible in a particularly exciting season, with almost 60 competitions throughout the country, including the Golden Shears World Shearing and Woolhandling Championships in Masterton on March 4-7.

He has been a regular at most shows in the North Island, particularly those covered by the shearing sports North Island electronic scoring system.

Sir David had taken on the chairmanship in 2015, soon after retiring from Open-class competition.
